- Inventory: SynchroFile
now includes an
inventory option for directory pairs. This function will list all files found in source
and destination directories and will compare source and destination listing files found in
one and not in the other. File Dates and times are included in the listings. This new
feature also allows only one directory to be inventoried, in this case a listing of the
contents of the directory is compiled. if the "include sub directories" option
is checked the inventory will include all sub directories and files in source/destination.
- File Execution: Files on the host machine can now be
executed based on explorer file extension associations. A list box has been provided into
which file execution parameters may be entered. For example if you wish to launch all text
files in a source or destination folder after processing you would type ".txt"
into the list box. If you wish to run specific file you would enter "file
Name.txt". if the associated program accepts command line parameters you can enter
those after the file name separating the file name and parameters with a space (i.e.
"fileName.exe -i -o c:\target folder"). This feature also can be used to run
commands (i.e. c:\myProgram -parameters).
- Event Log: A "Log Events" option has been
included for each directory pair. When checked all file transfer events will be logged to
a file. If for some reason a specified action cannot be performed on the target file then
the failure will be logged. All FTP events (name resolution, commands issues by
SynchroFile, transfer times, etc) are Logged.
- Event Viewer: An event viewer may be activated to
allow real-time viewing of events as they transpire. Events will be viewed regardless of
weather the "Log Events" option was chosen. Events remain in the viewer until
the viewer is closed.
- Re-ordering of directory pairs: The order in which
the directory pairs appear in the Directory Pair list box (and hence the order of
processing when multiple jobs have been scheduled for the same time or "Process
Now" has been chosen) may be easily changed by using the "up" or
"down" buttons on the toolbar.
- FTP Enhancements: support for differences in date
formats between FTP server programs and client platforms has been added. Support will be
added for new FTP servers as they come on the market. SynchroFile now supports the
"Move" feature for directory pairs which access FTP servers.
- Improved User Interface: The UI has been widened so
that extremely long directory pairs can be viewed completely. All scheduling controls now
appear on the "settings" page reducing the amount of user interaction required
to set up or administer directory pairs. A toolbar has been added to ease program
operation. SynchroFile now has a "Stop" button which will shut down any
jobs being processed.
- File Filter: A file filter option for each directory
pair has been added. This feature allows you to specify which files SynchroFile
acts
upon.(i.e. *.do? will act upon all files which have "do" as the first two
characters and anything as the last character of their extension).
- Program modularization:
SynchroFile
has been
modularized to further reduce system resource use while idle.
- UNC Support: Support has been added for UNC
pathnames (\\server\public\myfiles).
